It is planned to be hilarious and challenging, too. The finish line is the best part… a riot, one might say. This is our last hurrah – a real “good-bye”to winter. Spring is around the corner. Are you ready? We think so? Good-bye winter!! Today, our morning is all outdoors and centered on the Children’s Green, near our studio. Good-bye winter!!April 4 - Saturday Adventure #7:HeART to HeARTOur Featherstone kids will bring art to the hearts of children with chronic medical conditions. In recognition of Dartmouth Medical School (DMS) and New Hampshire Partners in Health we will join in a creative approach to wellness for children with chronic medical conditions, as well as their siblings. Packets of our children’s designs for work one-on-one with DMS students in environs where children’s artistic expression is the priority will be forwarded in the hopes that our sensitive collaboration will make a difference in children’s lives in the north country. We are honored to participate.April 18 - Saturday Adventure #8:Do We Love Bunnies – Yes We Do!Some bunny loves you – ‘tis a sweet expression often told. On our Children’s Green, near our trees and hollows are families of bunnies awaiting spring. We remember seeing them hopping across the pastures and fields that surround our campus. We will create a beautiful kaleidoscope featuring our paintings of these little creatures hopping in the round! We will challenge our Animals in Art classmates to join us with their amazing talent to do likewise. Faience sculptures from France (From Miss Lani’s travels) will be exhibited. April is the time to wish for bunnies return – let us nudge them along with our bunny spirit! May 2 - Saturday Adventure #9:World Turtle DayWorld Turtle Day is in May. We have learned for four years how to continue to protect turtles and tortoise and their habitats. Yes, we will design and create our special garden-pond home for our faux turtles. This year we hope to invite Charlotte and Samantha Potter to share their experiences with their turtles. These sisters – twins – a dynamo team have nourished their pets and the amazing care they have cultivated is so special to absorb! As with each passing year, sensitivity and creative touches with pets is encouraged! Featherstone children form a very important key to recognizing the worth of turtles and tortoises world wide. Miss Lani will share her slides of her Galapagos Islands experiences with giant tortoises including some enjoying mud baths on Indefatigable Island, there. The scientific led experiences at the Charles Darwin Research Stations are remarkable and important to share with you…Hopefully you will be astonished at the amount of creative force displayed by these creatures on these small, barren and rocky islands. Here’s to World Turtle Day – and all of our adventures. Today the Galapagos National Park and Marine Reserve are fighting for survival in a world where every thing is measured with economic value. May we NEVER forget that some things do not need to justify their existence; because they are priceless! May 16 - Saturday Adventure #10:Painting Your Way Around the World IIIWhat is painting? Can you create a painting out of yarn and sand? What about egg yolks and layers of fabric? We continue our series started in January to explore the many difficult ways people have created paintings around the world and throughout history.
